I had the same problem as you did, but I didn't find a good solution. I talked to my father who repaired TV and Electronics for over 40 years, and he told me the problem has to do with the high energy plasma in the florescent bulb itself.

The plasma causes electronic noise, which causes the flicker.

He said that I could not fix it. So I replaced my florescent with a halagen lamp I got at Walmart for like $6.00. It's not quite as bright. Maybe 80%, but no flicker.

: I have a small problem. The flourescent light behind my marquee is causing a magnetic field that is causing the upper right corner of the screen on my monitor to flicker. When I turn the light off, the flickering stops. When I turn it on, it starts again. Degaussing doesn't help.

: Can anyone tell me what I can use to shield the monitor from this magnetic field?
