I wouldnt recommend a book pc for arcade emulation, Book pcs come with a proprietary video built onto the MB, any mobo with a intergrated device will take away from the systems performance. but thats up to the user on what kinda of performance he wants. So... this is my point.. I have a k6-2 500 pc which I upgraded to a Duron 800. I bought a Geforce 2 mx beforhand and 256mb pc133 ram. I been following emulation since callus been out and It seems that I needed a sufficent machine to run certain emus/roms.
when I upgraded to a new motherboard + cpu. It tottaly changed the way I enjoy Emulators. my k6-2 500 is capable of running alot of games at their full frame rates, not with Mame32. so on the faster system (computer) I'm able to play and enjoy games with MAME32 such as UMK3, Rampage WT, NBA MAX HANGTIME... the midway games at a respectable frame rate. which I thought I would never be able to play enjoyably. and Full speed on every other emu including Impact. So if youre really smart you will have a PC that will not have any problems with speed. And its equipped with a 32mb APG card so it's never straining to use the system memory for video. I recommend a GOOD Motherboard, CPU, Video card (nvidia), 128 or more RAM, fast Hard drive. good sound card like SB Live!
--------------
Better Cpu & Video will give you good FPS in all games.
Lots of memory will load your huge games with less time. same with Hard drive.

The k6-2 500 was descent at emus when the geforce 2mx was in it, but when I put in the new Cpu it greatly improved all games.

The book pc may look cool, or take up less space but It does have over heating problems when putting in a higher Cpu, so do your research before you consider buying a machine ( with sucky parts ) that will not do you and your emulators justice!

: I'm currently using an outside pc for my mame cab. Look what video card this one has.... trident blade 3d, the one everyone has been talking about that enables you to run windows on an arcade monitor. If I only had $200 dollars.
