I've asked about this, and have been trying to overcome this same problem for the last month. The mice I have been trying to use are PS/2, but come with Serial port adapters. I know that they work, because I can just disconnect my normal PS/2 mouse and plug in one of the one's I want to hack. So obviously, the accompanying drivers on a floppy disk are not needed(for the basic functions).
