A stand alone mame box really doesn't need anything too special. Most of your power will come from your CPU since mame is emulating 2D games. Your system sounds great. If this is for a arcade monitor than anything ATI Rage is your best bet. I'm using an Xpert 98 8mb card. I think you can get 16mb ones so that would be a great card to use. They cost less than $50 and ATI picture quality is always good. You could go with an ATI Rage Fury Pro (32mb) or MAXX (64mb) which use the ATI Rage fury pro chipset which is the most powerful chipset available for use on a standard arcade monitor. Those two might be overkill. Like I said, the ATI Rage cards are all good. Your CPU will do most the work. If cost is a major factor you might just want to go with 128 mb of RAM. I don't think 256 will give you any more performance. From what I've heard, 128 gives you 100% as far as RAM goes. Also, if this is just for Mame roms 40 gigs is quite big, but does give you room to add roms for other systems.
