If exchangeable optical wheels were avalable, giving one an option to change to a wheel that had a lower number of vanes/spaces, then that wouldn't be a problem. Also, depending on how ones interfacing is(strickly at the hardware level), changing the transmition ratio would also accomplish the same thing.
