I'm fairly new to this board, but I was wondering if it would be possible to convert a standard 8-way joystick to a 4-way joystick by using some logic gates between the 4 microswitches. As I understand it, an angle position is sent when the vertical and horizontal switches are depressed. So, to eliminate the angle signal, just use a NAND gate between them. (This avoids special "jigs" and then need for increased #'s of joysticks on your control pannel) This seems to easy and has prolly be brought up before, so what are the drawbacks to this method. What am I missing.
