Hi Tiger-Heli,

It will "work" w/Mame's RoadBlasters, but not well. Mame's RB is one of the racing games like Pole Position, Sprint, etc. that uses a dial/spinner-like device to steer rather than pots. I believe that any games that says "dial" or "paddle" in the tab adjustment settings are meant to be played with a steering wheel that's connected to an encoder/dial device like a mouse or spinner (the steering wheel should be free-spinning). If you try to use a DOS/Windows device like a joystick, the analog controls are way off.

On the other hand, racing/yoke analog games like Star Wars, Paperboy, Hydra, etc. say "ad stick x/y" which refers to pot-driven joysticks/wheels/yokes/etc. that can be played w/the typical DOS/Windows wheel/yoke.

I have the Midway Arcade's Greatest Hits: Atari Collection 2 (and an earlier version that featured Spy Hunter) which has Roadblasters and it's controls are windows driven so I actually use my Logitech Formula Force to play the game. If I were to play Mame's version, I use my spinner (which is not as fun). What I am going to try is to hook up my arcade Pole Position wheel's dial up to a mouse/spinner's encoder to play great racers like Champ. Sprint, Badlands, Off Road, Pole Position, etc.

I think that it'd be great if you could choose either dial/paddle or a joystick to play these games--it'd make it much easier for some. There's one game that I believe uses this option method in Mame and it's The Great 1000 Miles Rally (fun game too). You'll see the controls option w/in the dip switches.

Hope this babblin' helped!

: Isn't the MAME version an emulation of the Atari, been a while since I played it. With the yoke not work for Road Blasters in MAME?

: Just curious
