I love ArcadeOS. I was running it for several months since I built my cabinet. Lately, though, I have had a lot of problems with the latest versions handling sound correctly. A lot of other people have had the same problem, so I know it isn't just me. I was tipped off to AdvanceMenu by EmuMannen just earlier this week. I really like it. It has some really cool features. If ArcadeOS doesn't get back to normal soon, I will be completely hooked on AdvanceMenu.

Good Luck..

PS. I am running "pure" DOS too.

I used to run Windows, and was using MAME32, but you can't beat the "instant off" of DOS, it's speed, etc..

: I don't know about Windows because I will try to stay in pure DOS as long as possible (simple, compact, quick boot, maximum MAME performance and quick shutdown with my regular cabinet power switch).

: There are several DOS frontends. The best known is probably ArcadeOS but I just love AdvanceMenu!

: I have to refere to my previous posting:

: I cant say this enough, AdvanceMenu totally rocks in my cabinet!!! There is no competition if you ask me. If you have an arcade monitor, fixed freq. monitor or a tv, go with AdvanceMame and AdvanceMenu, if you have a multisync monitor go with regular MAME (or AdvanceMame if you want to fiddle with the AdvanceMame configuration) and AdvanceMenu.

: Sorry if I am getting to exited but I really find AdvanceMenu that magnificent!

: : What is the best frontend for MAME? DOS?? Windows??

: : Thanks
