I use a vertically mounted 19" iiyama monitor. I have now used it (and a lot :-) ) for more then a month. Now problems yet. I have removed it from its case to make sure that the change of overheating is as small as possible. Also It looks better in the cab this way.
I am very pleased with it. I like the look and the flexibility of the svga monitor. Also in my cab the size fits perfectly with the original monitor glass.
So yes I would would go this way again when I had to start from scratch again...
