Sure you can although I don't know how to! I just included the location of the code in the initial post to help people find it that wanted to get rid of it and didn't know where it was called from.
Also, before anyone asks, this is on the known problems screen. The same message appears when a game is run for the first time (or no game specific .cfg file exists). Either one can be commented out and my method will get you past either one, but the MAME readme.txt discourages editing the initial screen and prohibits distributing MAME without it.
