Help! My buttons don't work..

I made a stick with a Gravis gamepad pro hack, and it worked fine. But I had to reconnect some wires to the board after moving it from a stand alone sick to a cabinet, and now the up/left direction won't work.. left works, up works, and every other diagonal direction works. Funny thing is, I never touched the wires on any direction key. Everything looks okay on the board (though I doubt if I could identify any subtle problems). Does anyone know what could be wrong?
