Why not try putting a tiny button on top of the spinner itself

: It is Spring loaded to center with switches on the up and down detents from center.

: The problem with hacking an OSCAR is you either have to have your disk AND optical pickups move up and down with the knob, or you have to have concentric shafts to allow the optics to remain fixed as you push/pull the knob.

: Joey Holman has built one, but he custom machined the whole thing. Both Fultra and OSCAR have been working on one for over a year now and neither has released one yet, so it must not be that easy!
