I opted for the Hagstrom KE72 and ME4 for my control panel. They work fine under Linux and I use DOSEX to run the hastrom setup program to change button mappings, seems to work fine so far but I do wish that somehow the software could be ported to Linux. I am only running one trackball and a spinner at this time and have had no problems yet, not sure how you would run two trackballs. I am using Mandrake 8.1 for my Linux, but I know of a couple of guys that use Red Hat 7.2 and SUSE 7.x (sorry not sure of the exact distro number). I also use AdvancedMAME and AdvancedMenu to run my arcadebox and I really like both.

I tried to start get them to start a discussion board on here for Linux guys, but no luck. I have one on my site but no one seems to be able to find it. I do not want to detract from BYOAC, just creat and area where we Linux people can discuss specific of our systems without getting caught up in the WIndows debate yet again.

well anyway I hope this helps.

: I was wondering if anybody has tried this combination. I am looking to build a control panel with two trackballs.

: Will I run into problems with finding a Linux driver that recognizes the optipac?
: It has installation instructions for DOS and Windows on the ultimarc website, does this imply that it will not work in Linux?

: It seems that it should work flawlessly, as it is designed to be recognized as a serial mouse, but I don't want to put down the cash if it won't.

: Thanks for your input...
