Hagstrom ME4 & Happ Spinner (arkanoid replacement trackwheel)

Hi all. Recent lurker and even more recent project builder beginner. About halfway there, more to come on that. Thanks all for the great info.
Having trouble with my Happ Arkanoid replacement spinner/Hagstrom ME4 mouse interface/Win98 combo. The Happ trackball works great with the ME4, but the spinner does not. When both trackball and spinner are hooked up neither work. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot further to determine if it is the spinner or the card? The jumpers on the ME4 are in the neutral (non-connecting) positions. There is no software for this card so that can't be it either.
