Gravis Stinger gamepad hack - anyone tried it?

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to purchase some of these nifty little things at 'the right price' and wondered if anyone has hacked one yet.

They connect to the PC serial port, but more interestingly use hall effect style magnetic switches for the D-pad, so I really have no idea as to whether they can be successfullt hacked. I've seen a picture of the circuitboard but can't see whether these switches can be short cut in order to achieve a more direct, 'digital' connection that we are nore accustomed to in gamepads.

I look forward to getting some feedback as they look like a nice pad to hack aside from the issue mentioned above.
