Rocket, thats great that your work is reversable (phew!). I just had a similar expierence where I got a Marble Madness cab for free (destined for the dumpster)! Monitor was all screwed up and the game would turn off after 5 minutes. I was all ready to mameify that baby, but then had a slight guilty feeling. A $15 cap kit for the monitor, and new (large) caps for the power supply fixed it up. I sold it to a local collector and used the money to buy a 25" 4-player NBA Jam cabinet, a Dreamcast, 2 joysticks, VGA adapter, and a couple games with the money. And now have a kickass 25" Sega Dreamcast cab for the price of fixing up the MM cab. Just pointing out options that both preserve some classics, and give you options on a better cabinet.

: Hi. Well the cab was missing the monitor, not one that was fixable. The only changes I really made were on the control panel, which I have a original replacement. You can see it beside the cab in one of the pics. So I can replace it and have the cab back original if I ever needed to. The artwork on the CP I modified was chipped badly and had alot of cig burns so I didn't feel bad about taking that off. But I feel I saved this cab from being burned or dumped. It sat in a warehouse collecting dust for years. At least this way me and my kids still enjoy it. So it has a new "2nd life". That's my take on it. If it were an original working cabinet like my Tron, then I would have restored it. Thanks for your input. ;-)

: : I don't want to sound like one of those arcade preservation people, but you got a great looking Joust cab for $30 (with just a non-working monitor) and mamed it? Ouch!! You could have just fixed the tube, sold it for $600 (maybe more) and bought two 25" 4-player cabs (with obligatory jamma game in it).

: : (sorry...I own an original Joust).

: : : Hey guys. Eveyone is updating their cab pages lately, so I've gotten in the mood to do some much needed html work to my site. Adding more daily, but the Joust to MAME page has alot of new pics. The site is on Geocites (which is slow) but I've made them clickable thumbnails so the previews will load quickly. I still need to update the text partion, but Rome wasn't built in a day. ;-) See ya guyz later!
