: Did you unzip the hiscore.dat file into your main Mame directory? Does your Mame directory have a subdirectory called "HI"? With just those two things it should work just fine (if the game has a entry in the hiscore.dat file)
: : :
: : : :
: : : : : I have the HI directory, with a bunch of files in it, all with the extension .h1, But there is no Hiscore.dat.
: : : : : Where do I get one, or how is it created?
: : : :
: : : : www.mameworld.net
: : : : there is a link to it on the right hand side of the page. You may also want to grab the other .dat files, like cheat, history, & mameinfo for the full mame experience. :)
: : : I downloaded the files and extracted them into the c:\Mame\hi directory, I went play Ms. PacMan and got to like 32460 points, i hit escape, then reloaded the game the the highscore area was blank again.
: : : Any other ideas?
: : : Las
: : Also I checked to see if the Directory info was correct for Hi Scores and it points to the C:\Mame\Hi directory, Maybe I jave a bogus Rom of Ms. Pac-Man, I'll go try Pac-Man and see if it saves. Alos, most of the other games save fine, Like tempest works , and Qix too.
: : Thanks Again,

The only entry inside the Hiscore.dat file for Ms.Pac-Man is like this:
mspacman:
that's it, most of the other games have like 3 lines of numbers following the name of the game.
I tried to copy-clip some of those numbers from another game and paste it under the mspacman: heading but it did nothing ;(
