I know that solvent based contact glue will melt most styrene (and most plastic), and I am unsure about the 3M glue, I have used the 3M glue only for repair work, its strong but not near as strong a bond as that of a good solvent based contact like I have mentioned. Even the non-flammable glue I believe contains some solvents that might melt your styrene, its ashame you couldn't emboss the metal (which I am not at all familiar with) by using your styrene cutouts and then fill the recess with bondo body filler before laminating to your sheet stock, would that work?
As the previous post mentioned the wrap around style tee-moulding would fully protect you and others from the sharp metal edge, if its the right width it might be worth the small cost increase, regular tee-mould could be used to overlap as well, but will not cover an imperfect cut as the wrap will, making it much, much easier, and that might be of some benifit as well. Still sounds like a cool cabinet! Best of Luck Matt
