The idea there is to add them together to get the right size t-molding. For example, if you use the standard 5/8 mdf, and 2 layers of laminate (one on each side of the mdf board) you come out almost perfectly to 3/4 t-molding. If your design only calls for laminate on one side of the mdf, I think 3/4 still works well.
Specifically, on mine, I went with 3/4 mdf, so I had to use 7/8" t-molding. On the sections where there is laminate on both sides of the board, I looks beautiful. On sections where laminate is only on one side, It overlaps just a bit, but the only way to notice is to run your finger down along it. It really isn't visually noticeable. Hope all that helps.
: Ok thanks for the tips. I've found a local stockists of 5 laminate manufactures just up the road from me in blighty so I will go and have a look at what they have got. I suppose the only problem I will have is that whatever I put on the top surface will stick out from the sides of the T-Moulds.
