need help with trackball hack..

Hi all,
I bought a WICO 3" trackball off Ebay and would like to do the 'trackball-mouse hack' instead of buying an interface. I looked at the Mamezilla page at http://www.saltspring.com/mamezilla/happshack.htm but I am a complete novice and the wiring is not too clear. Can anyone help with this?? My trackball has eight wires.. two red, two black, and one each green, blue, purple, and yellow. I have a KE72 already installed in my cabinet, should I just pay the extra money and upgrade to the KE72T and be done with it? Or can anyone tell me how to complete this hack?? Thanks for all advice and opinions.
