Feasability of DIY fiberglass cabinet?

I'd like to get the board's ideas on building your own fiberglass cabinet a'la computer space.

Does that even sound like something someone could do in their garage?

It seems like you would need some internal support which would also provide as points to bolt your equiptment to. A coin door/access panel could be built into the frame.

My first thought was to use something like chicken wire as form. Or would finish give poor results unless I used a mold? (that sounds like a lot more work!) Since I'm not mass producing this, I could probably smooth things out with bondo.

The cabinet would have to be carefully designed to support switchable control panels without looking like crud.

Does anyone have and idea what it would cost to have something like this built and a auto body or boat shop?
