Gamepad hacks("Gravis"and/or "Microsoft")

I am in the planning process of making my first arcade controller. I will ultimately be going with the "I-PAC"interface,however,until I can afford it,I will be hacking a gamepad. I have in my possession a "Microsoft" Sidewinder Dual-Strike that I never liked as a gamepad,but I believe will be well-worth hacking. The question is,has anyone eversuccessfully hackeda "Dual-Strike"? If so, how could I contact them? Thanks in advance!

P.S.My next gamepad hack may involve a "Gravis" XTerminator.
