I'm pretty sure I remember back when you did this. My panel is done and I was considering wiring up the buttons I'm going to add to the side of my cab for pinball to psx as well and using the coin door switches as select. I think I'll just leave those 3 out though. Thanks!
: AD, its better to utilize all the buttons of a PS1/2 than not. Most buttons are reconfigurable in games, and by having all available you have more options while playing certain games.
: Its hard to explain, but I've posted this before a long time ago. My button configuration is like this:
: -------X--X--R----
: -------3--4--L----
: -----2------------
: ----1------------
: The 1 and 2 buttons are not on a perfect diagonal, but placed to match my thumb and index fingers comfortably spaced. So I use 1-4 buttons for most games (perfect for Soul Calibur for example). The two X buttons are DC trigger buttons (or L1 R1 for PS), and R and L are r2 l2 for PS. I have a player start button above this, and a select button inbetween both players (I only use one for the cabinet since both player select buttons do the same thing usually).
: To play games such as Tekken and Project Justice, I use the two X buttons and 3, 4. To play other SF games I use the two rows of 3 buttons across.
: This pretty much accounts for most arcade setups (plus if some weird game comes out the requires you to use R1-L2 you can).

: : I think what I'm going to do is just wire up all the standard buttons and just not L2, R2, and Select. From my experience it seems that these buttons are used very little. Plus games that are "arcade-like" use less buttons and are therefore less likely to use these 3. If I find I need them I'll wire em up with quick disconnects so I can easily swap between using the four side buttons and the coin buttons.
: : I'm not going to play rpg's, racing, and other non-arcade games like MGS on my arcade cab. There is no point in this because frankly, the playstation controllers are awesome and work best for most games. Plus, I have a 27" Sony Wega in the next room that will also have a playstation hooked up to it.
: : Anyone see any problems with doing it this way?
