Does anyone know how to hack one of these spinners?

Alright, I got a free spinner from this arcade owner, and I was wondering how to hack it to a mouse. If you'd like to see a picture, I saw one online for $66 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1062373482 It doesn't have the standard happs pcb board cause it's from a japanese arkanoid spinner, and it has some of those little conductors or whatever they are, and it appears to be 2 sets of light sensors, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to hack one of these to an x-axis on a mouse? I've read up on how to hack the optical board of a happs spinner, but not of something like this.
Any input is appreciated, and I do have an adapter that plugs from the pcb board out to 4 wires, which are currently not hooked to anything.
