I got the necessary code edits and samples from elsewhere.
Thanks.
: : Haha -- no I don't really want that many games in my cabinet. The point of that argument was that I want a script to run against the source code to fix it up for me. I don't have a whole lot of games in there now AND I have not updated the cabinet in just over a year. I think it is running 37B14 code.
: : As for leaving them be, that's not exactly realistic. Have you heard asteroids in B14? I think that was when they trashed the sound in the "true spirit of emulation". I really want a fix for that one. Although asteroids is not a true cocktail game, it works fine on a tabletop. (so what if the score is sideways!)
: : The bottom line is that the more the code evolves, the more fixes you get. Even if I only upgrade its code once a year, I don't want to have to reconfigure each game. Often times you hear people complain of a problem, and a common answer is to delete .cfg & .nv files and start over. I don't want to get roped into that one.
: : Standup cab? Well, I have the cab, I just need the time to MAME it. :)
: : : Do you really want to have 726 games in your cocktail cabinet? My suggestion would be to put only those games in there you want but not more than 100, configure them and leave it be. No need to keep updating with future releases. Then build a stand up cabinet and put other games in there that aren’t in your cocktail. Then how about a bartop cabinet with some very simple controls. Then a driving cabinet… ;)
: : : : I also posted this on the mame.net messageboard in addition to AGM:
: : : : Is there a way to make MAME default into cocktail mode instead of upright mode as it currently does?
: : : : I've looked at the code and it appears that though I would have to perform something on the order of 726 edits to default each game to cocktail mode! Ack -- then I would have to reapply the edits after every release! My scripting skills are not up to snuff, so I would have to make those edits by hand.
: : : : So, outside of configuring each game manually, or makeing 726 code edits, is there a way to default each game to use cocktail mode by default?
: : : : Thanks
