: Hi there. Im getting ready to put my 25" samsung svideo tv in my cabinet. I totally removed it from the casing. The first question to any guys that have done this before, how should I mount it. I used Lusid's cabinet plans so what I did was cut a piece of MDF that is 26" wide by 25" tall and then cut a tv shaped hole to stick the front of the tv through. Then I was just gonna bolt the four corners of the tv using the four metal mounting tabs that are sticking out of the corners. the problems is that due to the front of the tube being not a perfect rectangle I had to hack, cut, saw, sand, and do everything else necessary to get that thing to fit. So now my holes that I drilled for mounting the TV are about 1/4" from the gaping tv hole. I'm afraid this won't support it well. I will redo the whole thing if someone can give me a better idea. My project has been going on for months and I'm getting nowhere. Thank you. -betacrash
See my page for an example of a TV tube mounting. I had a big advantage when doing mine: I had a destroyed TV tube of the same model, so I could hack 'n' slash away. For the love of God, be careful with your tube, 'cause they break really easily.
Originally, my tube was going to mount behind the MDF, but after fiddling, I found that it worked much better to mount the tube in front of it. I carefully (very, very carefully) slid the circuit board through the hole in the wood, then even more carefully slid the board over the neck of the tube, which was resting screen-down. I then attached the thing with some strong bolts, washers, lock washers, and lock nuts.
Don't worry too much about the thickness of the wood around the mounting holes. Mine is kinda thin too, but it's sturdy. I used some nice big washers to give it added strength. Most of the weight of the tube gets transferred to the thick part of the board anyway.
