Why do the msg board not display in hierachy past 3 posts? Anyway, thanks for the info, if I can find solder paste I'll give it a try (I will try using my desolder' in reverse to see if the hot air coming out will melt the paste) :-) .

: Unfortunately I haven't had experience with surface mount, but I've had a class that went over how to do it briefly. Basically you put down the chip where it belongs, put some paste across the pins (comes out of a tube), and run the heatgun (desoldering gun in reverse) over the pins, and the paste will melt and flow to where it needs to be... Pretty impresive how it works so easy compared to hand soldering.

: : Tom, I'm working on a project now that uses a 16 pin SOIC package chip. I've never soldered one of these before (and really don't see how without a very fine iron). I'm putting it on a prototyping surfboard-SIP module . Can you explain in a little more detail about the solder paste and heat gun method?

: : Thanks.

: : : Can you do surface mount circuitry? (as in solder paste and heat type) If so, get an AD725 from Analog Devices, I hear its a really good chip.

: : : : I am trying to build a Supergun , does any one out there know a simple way to convert the 5 pin RGB output to composite video without buying a costly converter . I would like to keep it a cheap project . Any help would be great .
: : : : Thanks
