I couldn't agree more. This wwwboard software stinks like a dead rat, but the community here and the wealth of information available makes it worth it and then some.
The one thing I will say is that maybe a competitor like this will raise the bar a little bit and encourage an upgrade to the forum software and maybe some more active maintenance of the other pages on the site.
BTW is it just me or does the message boards link on Mamecab.com not work? It tries to open up an EZboard link but every time I've tried it seems the server is not responding. Until they get forums that work, I don't think anyone would be packing their bags to go over there. But maybe it's just been bad luck that the three occasions I've tried to access them, they were down.
Anyway I will stay here unless all the regulars suddenly move over to mamecab. If it was truly split, I'd probably pick the one with the better forum software.
That's my two drachmas.
: Hey, Agent Davis, I know you mean well, but I gotta admit to serious misgivings about this.
: Right now, arcadecontrols.com is host to pretty much the only message board dedicated to custom-built arcade cabinets. While I think the message board interface here is pretty clunky and wish Saint would upgrade to some of the more modern software that's available (hint, hint) there is very much to be said for having just one place for all us cab builders to congregate and discuss. If you set up competing message boards, it'll add an extra stop on our daily surf. It'll probably also result in a lot of duplication, as people post identical questions to both boards in hopes of getting the most replies, and it'll result in some people missing out on important information (if, say, Person A only reads your boards and Person B only reads arcadecontrols.com, and Person A has a query that only Person B can answer).
: It's great to have extra resources available on the Internet. But it's also great to have a single "meeting place", and I hope you think long and hard before fragmenting it.
