I used a Zenith 25" TV in a Mortal Kombat cabinet. It was difficult finding a 25" TV that had S-Vid input and could fit in the 25" width space of the cabinet. I almost bought a Konka brand TV from China! I thought it would be a lot easier to just build a shelf and drop the TV ont the shelf. The 25" bezel that came with my cabinet fit perfectly to the Zenith TV. I drilled a small hole in the bezel to allow the remote to work.
: I am 99% sure I am going to use an S-Video TV for my cabinet. I've done some searching and still have a few unanswered questions...
: 1. Do most people leave the TV intact in its plastic shell, or disassemble it like I've seen done with computer monitors? I haven't seen too many project pages which use TV's, and on those I did see, there hasn't been much detail on how the TV was installed in the cabinet. If the shell is removed, can you get extra viewable area, like you can on many CRT monitors?
: 2. Are there games for which televisions just don't provide adequate resolution? There seem to be some games in the 640 and even 800 lines range in one direction... If I remember, TV resolution is 512x384 or something right? I would imagine these games look somewhat crappy on a TV... Any experiences?
: 3. Finally, any recommendations on some compact 25" or 27" TV's with S-Video input would be appreciated. I found some old messages with some suggestions, but most people don't include model numbers. I plan on hitting the local stores, but if anyone has any recommended models, I'd appreciate it.
: Thanks.
