That did it. I still don't know why it only works with the old dat files, but oh well. I bet if I did a reinstal of the origional 1.47 files it would work to. It works now though, and I can get back to playing! Thanks a ton!
: I kept the incabinet=1 switch but I went down to the arcmodeopt= and changed it from -monitor arcade to nothing.
: I think that's all I did, try it and see.

: : Yes, first I renamed it mame.exe. Then I tryed leaving it advmame.exe (so it could create the advmame.rc) and pointed AOS to advmame instead of mame. Still crashed. Then I tryed an old version of AOS I had (1.45) and it worked! Catch is though, it only works if AOS in in computer monitor mode. If I set it monitor = 1, then it shows a message "invalid switch -monitor" Very strange. It playes games fine when monitor = 0 only it shows a little message box "svgalib = standard something or other... press 2" after you exit the game. Oh well, guess I'll keep trying...

: : : Did you rename advmame.exe at all?

: : : : Just wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem. I replaced my old advmame with the new one and now ArcadeOS crashes when it's generating the game list. Any ideas?
