With all do respect for the creator of mamegtx, his setup was designed for people who never play 6 button games, particularly sf/mk style games. If a game has 6 buttons, generally they are divided into 2 sets of three. This makes sense, since in sf there are 3 punch and three kick buttons. Now with the gtx setup, you have to initially search to figure out which button is which, but with a normal 2/3 it's very intuative. His setup seems to be geared more towards odd-ball action/adventure games which require 6 buttons but don't have any logical ordering of the buttons... (Games like super mario world and tombraider, ect.) His setup is more ergonomic, so I figure It's easier on the hands.
But go by your own feelings man, if you like it use it... it's your cab afterall.

Most that I have seen have gone with a 3 over 3 arrangement, and I probably would have done the same until I saw Noel Blackman's panel (MAME GTX), with its "SNES Super Advantage Joystick" layout. I have mocked up a temporary control box using this layout, but I am still not sure. If I was thinking, I would have laid out player one with one arrangement, and player two with another, but its too late for that, and I don't want to waste the time on another temp.
