Alot of the larger SUN monitors were fixed frequency but you MIGHT be lucky. I used a GDM 17E10 SUN monitor on my Compact Mame cab. It was a sony made multisync monitor and required an adapter to attach to the 13W3 and a small mod inside to combine the separate VGA syncs into a composite one. The GDM20E20 is a twenty inch SUN monitor that is about the same as the 17E10 inside. These will work quite well with a VGA card as well. So it depends on the exact SUN monitor that you have on that Sparc 4. My 17E10 came with a Sparc 4 so you might luck out.

: Hi all,
: I am about to take on the fun task of putting my MAME cabinet together, and would appreciate some advice:
: I was initially going to use the TV option for my monitor, however, I can get my hands on a 21" SUN Microsystems Monitor (from a sparc4) for almost nothing. A beautiful monitor when used on the SUN machine, but of course the adaptor at the end is not compatible with a VGA pinout. The SUN's use 13W3 (I think it's called) as their standard.
: I know there are conversion adaptors to get a SUN monitor to work on a normal PC, however I have heard that these only work up to the 19" monitors. Can anyone confirm this? and/or a good place to go for such a convertor.
: Obviously I'd like to be able to use an actual monitor, and it'll only basically cost me the price of the adaptor, so if anyone can advise me here, I'd really appreciate it.

: Thanks in advance,
