Help with Hagstrom KE72...

I purchased a KE72 as well as the breakout boards. Each breakout board has 1 Ground per 9 inputs (It has a total of 36 inputs per breakout board). My question is do I need to insure that the ground wires from my input wires be matched to that specific ground? In other words, can I wire the ground wire from button 1 which is mapped to Input #1 to the 2nd ground wire instead of the first one? I hope this makes sense! I ask because I bundled all of my wires together and don't want to trace each ground & input back to each button! Thanks for the help.
