I like those Rhino outputs. I've always wanted to figure out how to do such graphical things but I never have enough time to figure out what to do with those programs after running them.
Yes I remember your input into the 12 vs 6 input phenomenon that allowed me to use smaller chips. I remember those late nights when I should be studying for some midterm and instead I'd be sitting there re-flashing a PIC chip trying to get the timing right.
Now I'm all done school and finally learned to use board layout software at my job and figured I'd put the Rotary interface back into production without the 5 hour assembly times. Now the only time delay is waiting for the boards to arrive from Bulgaria (2 weeks per shipment). Not a bad trade off.
