Hi - I've just had the same problem. It's AdvanceMame that's reporting the error because it doesn't have an appropriate resolution to run the game in question at.

I used the ADVV utility to manually setup the resolutions.

The whole thing has been a major pain - I started off trying to use the ADVCFG utility but it didn't seem to do any good on my config (15 Hz Arcade monitor) and I also had to change the video card - I started with a TNT 2 but it sometimes it just lost sync so I moved to an ATI Rage (which a lot of people seem to favour) and it's been a lot better.

To be honest I couldn't really say how I got it to work - just a lot of tweaking.
