Most LCD projectors have fixed resoultions, and some are fixed frequency.

Since LCD is a DIGITAL, PIXELIZED system, unlike CRT tubes, there is a complex conversion process for converting an analog, VGA or SVGA signal into digital pixels.

What I would recommend is setting MAME to industry standard video resoultions like 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc. Also, you probably want your video set to 31Khz VGA Refresh Mode, instead of 15Khz Arcade Monitor/TV Refresh Mode mode. However, the number of colors should not matter for LCD Projectors, even with the fact that LCDs do not have the color fidelty of CRTs.

If this does not work, I would try running other programs and see if this lockup happens to them (Word, Powerpoint, etc). If this does happen there, I suggest returning the projector for repair (the decoder board and video control circutry could be bad).

If this only happens with MAME, experiment with the video control options in MAME. Also, you may want to give AdvanceMAME a try too. It offers more video options, than MAME does.

: I just picked up a LCD Projector (Galaga never looked so good 8ft tall), but I'm having some problems with the projector. Is there anyone here that I could talk to about one of these?
