Does your Mobo support ACPI OS? If you set your taskbar to autohide, then use your keyboard's sleep button to hibernate rather than standby or shutdown, everything will come up in the same state as when you hibernated--i.e. no visible taskbar, no logon, no splash screens for background tasks. Youll also get back into windows much quicker, and can even leave applications running or possibly even hibernate in the middle of a paused game, and it should all come back when you power up!
