T-Molding Question

I am going to add t-molding and lexan to my control panel and had a question on thickness...

I see from t-molding.com quite a bit of 13/16 thickness t-molding. My panel is 3/4" thick, adding a 1/8" lexan top will bring it to 7/8" (14/16). Is the 13/16 meant for that (to leave a little "buffer") or should I re-do my top with 5/8 wood, 1/8 lexan and get 3/4 t-molding?

Also I really like the look of that gauntlet replacement molding that has the overlapped edges, but its 13/16. I wonder if that means the total height or the part inside the edges? Bah.
