Also I checked to see if the Directory info was correct for Hi Scores and it points to the C:\Mame\Hi directory, Maybe I jave a bogus Rom of Ms. Pac-Man, I'll go try Pac-Man and see if it saves. Alos, most of the other games save fine, Like tempest works , and Qix too.
