I can't remember the url, but there is a place online that offers t-molding for use with laminate. It is slightly wider, and has the vane offset a bit, so that you still center your groove on the mdf (or whatever), and the extra offset width hides the edge of the laminate.
: Also, you mentioned the problem of the metal being sharp and needing a protective edge. Could I just use a slightly wider t-moulding and offset it so it would overlap the aluminum?
