Stay away from particle board, its good for nothing.

If your going to paint your cabinet, go with the paint grade plywood. Its also the strongest product of the three.

If you are going to use plastic laminate(formica), go with the MDF. Of the three, it is the most stable substrate. It won't expand/shrink as much due to temperature and humidity changes, so your laminate is less likely to come off at a later date.

I used a spade bit on my panel, it worked fine, and its cheep.
