How are the computers physically connected?

Are you using the same protocols on each computer and if using IP make sure you have the Ip Addresses are unique but on the same network. I use 192.168.100.x with default mask of 255.255.255.0 if this is alright can you ping the other computer. ping 192.168.100.3 or whatever

For the computers to be visible in Network Neighborhood (NN) to other computers on your LAN you need File and Print sharing turned on and then share a folder.

Also even if the computer is not visible in NN try to connect to it any way like this

net use * \\comptername\sharename

that will map the next available drive letter to the folder you are sharing.

Good luck and let me know if any of this is helpful

: Hey everyone. I have a situation where I have one computer running WinXP is connected to the net, and my MAME box running Win98SE is not. So when I want update my MAME box with new emus or roms, I have to transfer files across by zip disk, or ocassionally by CD. Finally I went out and got another NIC card so I could link the two computers and just share directories so I could transfer files across an ethernet cable. But I'm having a hell of a time getting the XP and 98 machine to see and talk to one another, and I understand that's a typical problem. So are any of you out there networking gurus? Do you have any suggestions on how to get these two machines visible to one another? I have them on the same Workgroup name and everything, so I'm not sure what else to try. Thanks in advance for any tips.
