When I got my 3", it was a super super cheap one on ebay. And the cool think is it was a marblized track ball!
well, then I got it... it wasn't marblized, but it was white and so !@#!# dirty that it looked marblized.
So I cleaned the !@#!@# out if it. I soaked most parts in rust remover for hours. Made it better, but not great. Then I bought a $10 roller kit and that did the trick. If your rollers are dented in at all where the ball touches it, then the ball will start to vibrate when it spin fast... and thats not a good thing.
btw, I don't know what kind of trackball you have, but mine was a cinch to take apart and play with.
