dumping my MS sidewinder

Hey all,

I posted something earlier about how difficult the new Microsoft Sidewinder USB is to modify to connect an arcade joystick to. Even after I got everything wired up, the controls were below expectations. They were fine for the most part on non-timing critical games. But for my intended purpose (Street Fighter games), the controllers were terrible! I've logged countless hours at the arcade playing, so I know what the "feel" should be. The odd thing was that I hacked up a joystick that used arcade parts that used to be a SNES controller. So I knew the actual stick itself could work as intended.

So I went out and got myself a Gravis Gamepad Pro USB. Night and day. Not only was it much easier to work with (got it working completely in one evening), but the control is arcade perfect now. BTW, for those of you who are debating what kind of Happ controller to use for SF games, the Ultimate Joystick I got feels right on. The Super that I bought seemed to have too much adjustment needed with the levers. I'll be buying more Ultimates for my project!

I hope this is helpful to some!
Devin
