Ok here's the deal for any pinball newbies out there who we've completely confused.
;-)

Pinmame is an aracde ELECTRONICS emulator. That means it only emulates the cld display and any electronic components of a table (when to switch on lights, hit flippers ect) Now that by itself is useless, so some nice guys came up with visual pinball, which is a 3d simulation of the physical surface of the table with life-like physics applied to it. You can code a vp table using vb script, or write it's code so that it loads up pinmame and launches xxx rom to control the table.

The only thing asthetically you'll notice on a pinmame table as opposed to a scratch built vp table is the lcd display in the corner.

I hope that helps some... BTW guys the attacks on the ir site is going to severly cripple pinball emulation. Also the artwork and flyers in pinball games is becoming scarce and un-organized. Those who have the resources need to step up to the plate and try to help out. Personally I'll do whatever I can.

Ok I've preached to you enough... game on!

: Here is a good site for the tables.

: So what does pinMame do that vpinball doesn't. Does it load full screen like MAME roms?

: Cheers,

: Ed

:
: : Sad thing is that it looks like the best site (http://www.hippie.net/shivasite/vptables/) is being DoS attacked right now and he is thinking of taking down the site... really sad!

: : Anway, on his site there is a great link to get everything going. The version of pinmame might be the problem. but there is 5 steps to get everything working (and its been so long, I dont remember them).

: : they take their own roms. (but default directory is roms under vpinmame directory). You run setup.exe and it has a user interface and an install (to register it in your registery so vpinball can find it) and a test button that works.

: : good luck (and I have it installed on my machine, but not the one I get email from if you want and specific questions... so post them here)
