I think I remember reading a while back that someone bought an old midway arcade board. I don't remember what the game was but it was from "the golden age" of arcade games (way older than mortal kombat). Anyway, the board had a bad ROM chip (or something) so the guy emailed midway and asked if they happened to still have the code/binary/whatever around somewhere... I think he also asked if he could send his chip to them and have them burn it for him for a fee, or maybe if they would email the code to him. I'm not really sure what he asked, but their answer was for him to go download the rom off some webpage and burn it himself.
I found that very amusing so..

: The original idea behind ROM dumping was indeed to save the games with bad ROMs. These days it's more about MAME than saving an old board.
: The ROM images should be able to be copied back to an EPROM with no problem. The device you need is called a PROM burner. They can be found many places including Here and you can even build your own Here.
