If you can only have one joystick. Go 8way. There are some ways you can make an 8way act like a 4way (left not up not down, up not left not right in mame) but it doesn't work nearly as well as a true 4way
btw, brand new wico 4way leaf is $10.95. So if you have room, just add another joystick and your set
