Okay guys, I apologize in advance for the redundancy here because I know this has been asked time and time and time again... but... :)

I am in research and information gathering mode for the cabinet I plan to begin working on in a few months. Setting graphic quality aside, what is good to use as a monitor? I'm not asking for the best... I am merely looking for various people's experiences with the different options that are available and I will determine what is best for me. I initially considered a television, but I have read time and time again about the poor quality. I then learned about Wells Gardner and their line of affordable VGA monitors which I read somewhere do not have a long life span (BTW, is this true?), and then of course you have a true arcade monitor and I read somewhere that they also have a short life span, plus you have to interface them to the PC VGA port.

With that said, I am looking for easy hook-up and ease of use, which points me directly to the Wells Gardner VGA monitor, but the thing that bothers me is that if it is true about the short life span (I hear approximately 1 year) I don't think I want to spend the $600 to buy one. I will take all thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance for the help!
