I come to you desperately seeking your collective wisdom....

What have I done?!?! I've #$)!@& my monitor.

I added a subwoofer to my cabinet last night. I made two assumptions when I positioned it in the cab:

1. Since it's a PC subwoofer, its shielded.
2. Just in case #1 isn't true, I'll place it as far away from the monitor as possible.

Well, the speaker ended up about three feet from the monitor chassis. I powered it up and - you guessed it - the colors went awry.

I degaussed the monitor from all sides with an external coil, with no luck. Basically, it appears as if the green is now missing (or very weak). Everything is blueish or purpleish. Note: I check my VGA cable and its OK.

Can a strong enough magnetic field completely destroy a monitor? Or can a mangetic field damage some easily replaceable components (i.e. cap kit)?
