macgyv passed on to me some pictures and a brief write-up of his joystick project, and it's impressive!  He's given his blessing to share it with everyone here.

All joysticks and buttons are from Happ controls. They are wired to an interface from a gutted Mouse Systems keyboard. The spinner is made from the mechanical parts of a Wingman Warrior connected to the guts of a cheep mouse. The spinner and interface are connected tomy computer through a custom version of Stephan Hans' keyboard switch.  It combines his keyboard switch with his serial switch on one board.

There's nothing like using the real controls.
